SAP Business ByDesign is aimed at organisations with greater complexity: multiple locations, international structures, project-oriented business models or subsidiaries within a corporate group. ByDesign is available exclusively as a cloud SaaS solution and comes natively equipped with a multilingual interface, multi-currency support, and integrated project management and HR modules.
SAP Business ByDesign is a particularly strong fit for three types of organisation. First, mid-sized companies with 50 to 500 employees looking for a complete ERP suite without their own IT infrastructure. Second, subsidiaries of international groups that need a standalone ERP solution which integrates cleanly into existing group processes. ByDesign distinguishes between three user types, which differ in scope of functionality and price. The Advanced User has access to all features across all licensed scenarios – suited to accountants, controllers, supply chain managers and executives with broad system needs. The Core User can work fully within assigned business areas but cannot navigate across areas – ideal for specialists and departmental heads. The Self-Service User is limited to transactions that employees carry out for themselves: expense reports, leave requests, time recording – cost-efficient for anyone who only interacts with the ERP on an occasional basis.
Yes – and that is one of ByDesign's greatest strengths. The system natively supports multiple company codes, currencies, languages and country-specific legal requirements. With the "Additional Localisation" option, further country packages can be activated – including local tax rules, payment formats and reporting obligations. Subsidiaries can be managed within the same tenant or operated as independent instances, with consolidated group-level reporting available at any time.
